SKITZO

Costumes, Wigs and Quirky Party Things

Skitzo is a one-stop costume shop in that offers a variety of costumes for ever themed party or event. This includes everything from cosplay outfits to customized costumes and bachelorette accoutrements designed to fit everyone from babies to grandmas. The costume shop is known for its accessories that will just complete and compliment the whole look-- from colorful wigs and eyelashes, to funky hats and quirky eye wear (shades and colored contact lenses), face paint, masks and bachelorette accessories that will just complete the special event-- from sweet and dainty crowns with vails and sashes to little naughty outfits and sexy props. It has all those items that cannot be found easily in Manila for a good cost (top hats, costume props, anime accessories, etc.). This costume store aims to be on the top of everyones head for costume and accessory needs for any occasion, or just for adding fun and color to every day life. Skitzo could very well be the first of it’s kind here in Manila.

As the name Skitzo states, our store has multiple personalities. You can walk in there and become whoever you want to be.

RITUAL

Ritual is co-owned and co-managed by Roberto Crisostomo and Beatrice Misa. The store is a general store that serves as a mini natural grocer and cafe. Ritual carries eco-friendly, organic and natural products from organic farmers, artisans, craftsmen and environmentally sound businesses.

The products include bath and body products (soap, shampoo, massage oils, lip balms), culinary items (organic coffee, organic rice, organic sugar, natural yogurt and ice cream), household cleaners, (laundry soap, dishwashing liquid, surface cleaners and disinfectants), clothing and accessories (organic cotton and pina clothing) among others. It values and encourages environmental practices like bringing one's own container to avoid plastic.

The store mission is to touch "everyday life rituals" and give meaning to to each of them. Ritual is about quality of life - from the first sip of fresh coffee in the morning to a soothing shower before going to bed.

VINYL ON VINYL

Vinyl On Vinyl is an urban art and music gallery that stocks vinyl toys, records, art prints, artwork, and other related merchandise. Our thrust really is to foster a home away from home for folks with a discerning taste in art and music and to highlight local artists while we're at it.
Vinyl On Vinyl engages the creative community in a whole range of activities such as but not limited to film-viewings, art talks, and art sessions. It also offers DJ lessons for aspiring turntablists with a line-up of the country’s finest beatsmiths as instructors. VOV involves itself in all sorts of avenues that support its business and allows artists to utilize the gallery space for projects/activities that are attuned to its vision.

This vision is to serve as a platform that features the best independent local artists in a variety of marketing endeavors such as the website, social networks, media releases, events (exhibits, performances, live art, etc.) and whatever other clever things we may think of.

OUTERSPACE GALLERY

OuterSpace Gallery is a brand new gallery that's located in the Collective in Makati on Malugay Street. First opened in April 2010, OuterSpace is a gallery that seeks to find young and new talent and expose them to the public. And when we say public, we don't just mean the "Art Crowd," we mean to everybody. We want to make art accessible to everyone by creating a warm and friendly space for art to have a home in. The founders of OuterSpace, Nick Santiago and Dustin Reyes have very little to no exposure to the local art scene -- themselves being novices in the field. But they do have a great love for beautiful things. And we believe that that's all you need to have a passion for art.

What we like to say is that for with the beautiful things and all the ugly things in the world -- there's room for it all in OuterSpace.

Our feature on JUICE.PH

Collective Soul
By Liz Anne Bautista

You'd never guess that, within the confines of the warehouse-looking facade along the one-way street of Malugay, is the city's new destination du jour for shopping, food, art, and parties. Referred to as The Collective, the massive space, which used to house an autoshop, brings together a bevy of alternative retail shops that cater to the young and hip Manila set. Although the fresh paint smell hasn’t quite faded, and some shops still stand empty or half-finished, here are some of the stores that are open and already reinventing our concept of retail:
